Humphrey Anumudu: They have started what they did to us in APGA – Ike C Ibe reveals last communication with late Labour Party Guber Aspirant

A former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly and Governorship aspirant under the Imo State chapter of Labour Party, Chief Ike C Ibe has revealed his last communication with Chief Humphrey Anumudu, the Labour Party Governorship aspirant, who died in Lagos yesterday.

Anumudu reportedly died while he was sleeping though there are some conflicting reports about how he passed.

Anumudu have contested the Governorship seat of Imo State since 1998.

In a post captioned, “WHEN I SPOKE WITH HUMPHREY”, Ibe revealed what Anumudu told him about the crisis brewing in Labour Party.

Recall that Anumudu and Ibe along with a host of others, including a former governor of Imo State, Dr Ikedi Ohakim, were members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, in 2018 but the party’s primaries was hijacked by a former Okigwe Senator, Mr. Ifeanyi Araraume.

Araraume would eventually lose at the General Elections, but his actions forced the likes of Ohakim, Anumudu, Ibe amongst others, out of APGA, and killed the party in the state.

There have been moves to install a candidate in Labour Party, which the change of party leadership is believed to be a part of that plot.

The plot had been causing unrest in the party.

Ike C Ibe in his post revealed that a delegation was getting ready to meet the leaders of the party in Abuja, and Anumudu while agreeing to be part of the delegation, likened what was happening in the party to what happened to them in APGA.

Ibe’s post reads as follows:

“Early last week I called Chief Humphrey Anumudu. He was in Lagos. I called to invite him to a meeting of Labour Party leaders in Abuja and to get his position over the then lingering crisis in the party. “Onyemauzo” I said, we need you to be part of the delegation to national chairman”. He said Ike my brother put my name beside yours” “write my name everywhere”. Humphrey went ahead and made an important remark “these people have started what they did to us in APGA”. We laughed heartily and relived our old experiences in APGA. Humphrey was his usual hearty and jovial man. We agreed to meet later in Imo. Humphrey didn’t come to Imo again. He will never come to Imo again. Maybe his body will come to Imo later to rest in peace. Humphrey was a good man. Life is vanity upon vanity and tomorrow is never promised. May the soul of Humphrey Anumudu and the souls of all faithful departed, rest in peace. I’m deeply saddened.
