…reveals How Nigeria Can Overcome Its Challenges

President Muhammadu Buhari’s opposition to the ban by Southern Governors on open grazing, have received a knock from his own govenror, and member of the All Progressives Congress APC, Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State.

Masari frowned at the president’s stance of on the ban on open grazing, stating it was wrong.

Masari made this known, while speaking to newsmen on Tuesday. He stated that the movement of herdsmen from one point to another is un-Islamic.

Masari pointed out that the movement of the herders and their herd, was basically in search of two things which are water and fodder.

Masari pointed out that if government could provide those two thing for them, there wouldn’t be need for moving around.

Masari insisted that the roaming about of herdsmen, was un-Islamic and was not the best. He insisted that it was part of the problem the country is facing today.

Masari emphatically stated that he was against open grazing, calling for a stop to it.

Recall that the Southern Governors recently placed a ban on open grazing in the Southern part of the country, while calling on President Muhammadu Buhari, to address the nation on the security situation facing the country.

Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, as questioned the legitimacy of the Southern govenrors’ stand on open grazing.

He was of the view, that the Asaba resolution by the Southern govenrors, would not solve the farmer and herder clashes.

Shehu stated that President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier approved the rehabilitation of grazing reserves, stating that the constant clashes between the farmer and herders will be addressed with Buhari’s approval.

Shehu insisted that the southern governors’ decision, reached during the meeting in Asaba, Delta state was in violation of the constitutional right of Nigerians, to live and do business in any part of the country, regardless of the citizen’s state of origin.
