We don’t need to forget in a haste what transpired during the 2018 Imo state PDP governorship primaries. The over voting, fraud and malpractices that marred that excercise has remained a regrettable debacle in the conscience of those who aided it.

Against all odds and every calculated efforts to vilify Senator Samuel Anyanwu for taking part in that primary, he stood his ground, challenged the malpractices even up to the apex Court.

That he stood for justice, equity and fairness even while he was denied victory in broad daylight was unquestionable. That firmness depicts his character as an astute and dependable political leader anyone can trust. Great leadership shines out of a cauldron of crisis, the blue game of a fire.

Bill Clinton regretted that he did not have a crisis like 9/11 to deal with in his boring era of prosperity and peace. Hence, scandal stalked him as an odd sort of spice.

A great leader basks in crisis but does not summon it. No one asks for a time of misery as an opportunity to excel. What is the the point of leadership if not for great challenges?

Shortly after the 2019 general election, he proceeded on vacation to review his last political outing in the state, pledged commitment and dedication to the party as he positioned himself for the future.

Behold few years later, he clinched the highest political party elective position zoned to Southeast as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

We saw the last PDP primaries that held in Imo with periodic sponsor of spurious allegations, petitions and stage managed protests. Imo state PDP trembled. Samdaddy saw and conquered. He also showed leadership even when the centre quaked and looked for direction. Sen Samuel Anyanwu (Samdaddy), did it, the primaries were free, fair and credible. His other accomplishments prior to the primaries are big in themselves, but they seem small because he did the appropriate thing first: he saved the party from imposition of candidates, implosion, legal tussle.

No wonder, we record on daily basis, endorsement, courtesy visits by several groups, strategic party officers urging him to declare interest to run for governorship come 2023.

Others followed.
Recently, party chieftains across the 27 LGAs of Imo threw their ‘august weight’ for the fair, handsome, energetic and strategic politician. It’s indeed a second coming for this consistent political marverick. The support and endorsement are overwhelming. Of a truth, there are jitters everywhere emanating from the recent rejigging of his political structure and subsequent appointment of a new Director General and Secretary to oversee the affairs of his Divine Mandate Movement, DMM.
