That has been the question on the lips of many observers, following the media attacks launched against the former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Dr Peter Obi, by hirelings of the sacked Imo governor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha.

Despite a stern warning from a former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP to Ihedioha’s aide over his attacks on Obi, the attacks had continued.

It can be recalled that Ihedioha openly opposed Obi’s aspiration in the PDP, when he shunned Obi during the former Anambra governor’s visit to the party leadership in the state but gave the Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal a grand reception when the former Speaker of the National Assembly visited party faithfuls.

Despite the negative reactions Ihedioha’s actions attracted from observers, the former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly through his aides have maintained their hatred for the former Anambra governor, attacking him at any opportunity they get.

Looking at the reaction by Olisa to Ihedioha’s hireling, it is obvious that the former National officer have come to recognise Obi as a force to reckon with and seemed disappointed that Ihedioha’s aides would assume that attacking Obi would win votes for the PDP.

With the nationwide movement Obi has triggered, something Ihedioha couldn’t trigger in Imo State, attacks against Obi may be seen as attacks on Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as the PDP presidential candidate would most likely be bleeding votes due to the attacks from Ihedioha’s hirelings, at a time he needs injection of votes.

One begins to wonder if this is a revenge tactics by the Mbutu born politician against Atiku, for ignoring him and settling for Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.

It can be recalled that Obi was in Imo State to campaign for Ihedioha during the 2019 elections and was a regular visitor during Ihedioha’s brief stay in office.

Obi also supported Ihedioha’s attempt to reclaim power from Gov Hope Uzodimma following the ruling by the Supreme Court that returned the rightful winner of the the 2019 Election to power.

One begins to wonder when the romance became sour?

With the constant attacks against Obi who has become the people’s favourite across the country by Ihedioha’s hirelings, a lot of Imolites wonder if Ihedioha has finally accepted the reality that he would never rule Imo State as many have openly informed him that they are waiting for him to come for their vote in 2023/24, when he makes his last push for the governorship seat of Imo State.
