Ihedioha’s hold on IMO PDP may destroy the party

by Austin Obiukwu Esq

News reaching us today, has it that the warring factions in the Imo State Peoples Democratic Party PDP, being Hon Emeka Ihedioha, the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and the National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu Samdaddy, have decided to bury the hatchet for the good of the party.

We are now hearing that the suspended primaries, which had threatened the chances of the party even having candidates in the 2023 General Elections, would now be allowed to hold, while ad-hoc elections may take place.

That is good news but the question we keep asking is, will the peace last? Will somebody not try to play hanky panky again at the slightest opportunity?

If we must ask ourselves what the root cause of the problem in Imo PDP is, all honesty fingers will point at Ihedioha and his desperation to pocket the party, so that he will get the governorship ticket for ay third attempt.

To make sure his word is law in Imo State PDP, Ihedioha practically installed all the Excos of the party, from the wards to the State.

Senator Samuel Anyanwu was sidelined and even at a time, a kangaroo expulsion was organised against him by Ihedioha because he knew his only real threat in the party was Senator Anyanwu.

Ihedioha didn’t see the position of National Secretary coming and when he did, he tried to fight it, but Senator Anyanwu’s contact was more solid than his and Senator Anyanwu got that position which now serves to checkmate Ihedioha’s excesses in the party.

This is the beginning and end of the problem of the party, who holds total control.

Ihedioha wants everything that happens in the party to go through him, thereby every position will be filled by his own people.

But that is not democracy. This dictatorship.

He wants the delegate list to be solely written for him so that whoever he wants the delegates to elect for whatever position, they’ll do so, no questions asked.

What would that make of PDP in the state?

This crisis was good for the party but I hope Ihedioha doesn’t try something else against Senator Anyanwu, from his bag of tricks in his desperation to take control of the party in the state.

Samdaddy shine your eyes.
