Imo Benefits From Federal Govt Mass Housing Project


…68 Housing Units Commissioned.
…Gov. Uzodimma lauded for providing enabling environment for the project.

The efforts of the Executive Govenror of Imo State, His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma, to provide affordable housing for middle and low income families has began to pay off as the construction of 68 Housing Units, under the National Housing Programme,(NHP) phase 1 in Imo State is now completed and commissioned.

The Commissioning of the Federal Housing Project sited at Avu, Owerri West LGA is a clear manifestation of the doggedness of Governor Hope Uzodimma in partnering, with the Federal Government for the benefit of Imo State.

A breaking down of the 68 Housing units shows that the buildings consist of:
▪28 units of 2-bedroom bungalow.
▪16 units of 3-bedroom bungalow. ▪24 units in condominium (1,2,3 bedrooms.

Speaking at the commissioning celemony, the General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) Engr. Francis Chukwu urged the beneficiaries to ensure they justifiably utilize the structure provided by the Federal Government in partnership with the Imo State Government, stressing that the beauty of development is protecting and managing State assets.

The estate was commissioned by the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba.

The occasion witnessed the allocation of free housing units to the 1994′ Super Eagles team members of Imo State origin, namely Alloy Agu, Emmanuel Amunike and Uche Okafor.

Dignitaries in attendance includes the Zonal Director, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing for South East Zone Arch. Mrs Uzodimma and the Federal Controller of Works and Housing for Imo State Engr. Dennis Daniel.
