Anglican Knight drags Uche Nwosu to court for extortion

A former Chief Press Secretary to former governor Dr Ikedi Ohakim, and a Knight of Saint Christopher, Sir Collins Ughalaa, have dragged Mr. Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law of the former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, to court, alleging extortion and conspiracy.

In a brief signed by Ughalaa’s counsel Ekeh Divine Uzoma, and posted on his Facebook page, Ughalaa alleged that the former governorship candidate of the Action Alliance AA, conspired with his lawyers, to extort from him Ughalaa, the sum of ₦350million.

Recall that Nwosu had earlier filed a brief against Ughalaa, alleging that the media practitioner had called him a “suspected criminal”, and along with a demand for public apology to be made on several national and local newspapers, had also demanded compensation of the sum of ₦350million from Ughalaa.

Uche Nwosu was recently arrested by men of the Nigeria Police, during the Thanksgiving service of his late mother, and whisked away to Abuja in handcuffs, where he was made to write a statement before he was released.

Ughalaa in an article, referred to the former Chief of Staff to the former governor of Imo State, as a suspected criminal owing to the fact that he was suspected of a crime, and was shown on handcuffs, and this would spark off the legal row between them.

While it remains three days for the time given by Uche Nwosu’s legal team for an apology and payment of the said compensation to elapse, we await further actions towards that regard, as Ughalaa seems ready to meet Uche Nwosu in court rather than agree to the demands.
