Nigeria: Where Cattle Wellbeing Becomes More Valuable Than Human Life

by Olusegun Adewuyi

When a newcomer to the crisis in the country, trying to find out the root cause of the present security situation in Nigeria, which has now severely threatened the unity of this country, would be shocked to find out that the wellbeing of cattle is the reason Nigeria is today sitting on a keg of TNT.

For the sake of cattle, more human lives have been lost within the past few years, than ever before.

The stories of pain and tears are everywhere. From the Middle Belt where it started, to the Southeast/South South, and in the South West, the story is the same.

And the Muhammadu Buhari government, refuse to do anything sincere towards curbing this menace, that had practically destroyed this country.

The whole problem in the South East today, stemmed from the people’ s resolve to protect themselves against Fulani herdsmen, who have been killing them.

Suddenly, Hope Uzodinma drafted the military into the state, to commence the killing of a people, who are already being killed by the cattle rearers.

Instead of protecting his people, Uzodinma joined those who value animal life over human life, and today, Imo State is in crisis.

The entire South East, isn’ t as vast as the Sambisa forest. I believe the herdsmen once offered to relocate to the place, if it can be made conducive for them.

A proactive government, who isn’ t looking to suppress others, would have helped the herdsmen settle down at the forest, rather than allow them to invade the farm lands of people in the South, and kill those who resist them.

The herders have graduated from just attacking farmers, and today they have become kidnappers, and even wage war on communities in the country, leaving tales of sorrow, tears and blood everywhere they go.

With the way things are going, the present adminstration of President Muhammadu Buhari, is gradually becoming the worst in the nation’ s history, and those at the top seem not to care, as they drive the nation further into the ground.

May God save Nigeria, if there’ s anything in it left to save.
