Okigwe Senate: Coast gets clearer for Araraume

0

With the recent turn of events in APC at the National level, the coast seems clearer for Senator Ifeanyi Araraume to return to the Senate.

The suspension of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC, Adams Oshiomhole may have drastically weakened the hold of GovHope Uzodinma on the party structure in the state, and would probably limit his ability to decide who flies the party’s flag into the oncoming Okigwe Senatorial election.

There have been perceived cold war between Gov Hope Uzodinma and Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, even though the Isiebu born politician publicly denies it and tries to assure the govenror of his support, but Uzodinma have not shown sign of reciprocating Araraume’s effort towards friendship.

Araraume’s recent commencement of consultations across the zone, has sent a message that the Isiala Mbano born billionaire has gotten the assurance he needs to step into the ring.

Araraume had been silent for months, without giving any hint of his future political moves. Pundits are of the view that defeat at the party primaries, would greatly weaken Araraume’s political power across the state, and with Oshiomhole and Hope Uzodinma practically calling the shots, Araraume knew it would be an almost impossible task winning the primaries.

With Oshiomhole’ s removal and replacement with Victor Giadom, it seems the Daniel Nwafor faction of the APC in Imo State, backed by Senator Rochas Okorocha may have an upper hand in deciding who flys the party’s flag.

The NWC of the party, of which the SWC led by Nlemigbo is a part of, have already protested against Giadom’s emergence as National Chairman. Giadom may have to work with the elected party executives in the state, being Daniel Nwafor.

With the friction between Gov Hope Uzodinma and former governor Rochas Okorocha, gradually escalating out of hand, Okorocha would most likely back Araraume who would be a stronger ally against Uzodinma in the political battle that may soon engulf Imo APC.
