Okorocha, Ihedioha Shun Imo Peace Parley

Two former governors of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha and Emeka Ihedioha, were conspicuously absent at a peace summit organized by the clergy in the State.

The summit was attended by the primate Methodist Church of Nigeria, Most Rev Samuel Uche, the Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Archdiocese, AJV Obinna, the state chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev Divines Eches and other bishops in the State.

Two former governors of the State, Achike Udenwa and Ikedi Ohakim attended the summit, which also had in attendance Senator Frank Ibezim, who represents Imo North in the senate and former Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Maurice Iwu.

Former governorship hopeful, Jerry Chukwueke was also in attendance.

Speaking to newsmen, the Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Diocese, AJV Obinna, said the meeting was part of efforts by the clergymen to engage politicians for peace to reign in the State.

Obinna said they would continue to engage top politicians in the state until complete peace was restored in the state.

He said the bishops were hoping to have a state where there was no panic and devoid of terrifying situations.
