Today, monday 21st of June, 2021, I have the honour and privilege of been invited to join stakeholders meeting for selected Community/Opinion leaders, Traditional Rulers, President Generals of Town Union, Professors, Women and Youth Leaders, Religious and Political Leaders drown from the 11 electoral wards or 33 Autonomous Communities that made up Ehime Mbano LGA in a meet my people governance interactive audience with the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma at Sam Mbakwe Exco chamber, government House Owerri.
The leadership delegation led by Professor Maurice Iwu, Chief Tony Chukwu, Senator Frank Ibeziem, Rt Hon Stanforrd Onyirimba among others thanked the Governor for appointing their son, Chief Cosmas Iwu as Secretary to Imo State Government. Ndi-Ehime also thanked the Governor for standing firmly behind their son, Senator Frank Ibeziem in his election and swearing-in as Senator representing Imo North in the National Assembly.
The august body agreed with Governor Hope Uzodinma noble initiative to come face to face and interact with community leaders on issues of governance as it concerns them. The idea to get the feedback of governance from bottom to top approach is a positive ideas that must be encouraged.
The good people of Ehime-Mbano LGA condemned in strong terms the attacks on the country home of the Governor, Security Institutions and other government facilities leading to lost of life and breach of peace in the state. They therefore call on all those behind the despicable acts to give peace a chance. They also sympathise with families that lost their loved ones both the civilians and Security agents alike.
Ndi-Ehime, in solidarity congratulated Governor Uzodimma for the giant strides his administration has recorded in the last one year especially on road infrastructure and other related governance issues. While appreciating Governor Uzodimma’s efforts in transforming the state, they urged him to look inwards Ehime-Mbano and come to their rescue.
They beckoned on the Governor to see to the rehabilitation/construction of Aba-Branch (Ehime Mbano) — Ekeahiara road connecting the LGA headquarters to Owerri through Mbaise. The bad road network is crying for either rehabilitation or complete reconstruction.
They demanded also from the Governor the award and construction of Nkwo Umuezeala – Orieikpa-Agbaja-Nkwodioka Nzerem – Ekeumuodu – Umukabia- Umuelemai road with a spur from Orieikpa to Umuogwara-Umunumo road.
Ehime-Mbano, a densely populated and agro local government requested his excellency intervention in the award and construction of a grade A roads connecting two major markets from Orieagu Nsu to Umuonyia – Umualumaku through Nkwodurukwu to Oriendu market. This particular road has appeared in the state budgets of previous administration in Imo since 2007 but yet to be awarded.
His Excellency was requested to caution and call back the contractor handling Ehime Mbano Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP) to site. It was reported that the contractor abandoned his work since February 2020 despite collecting mobilisation fee.
The Governor was encouraged to use legitimate instrument of government powers in the recovery of machines at the Nsu Ceramics Industry (Nsu Tiles) carted away by the former Governor Rochas Okorocha and family. He was pleaded to ensure the revitalisation of the Nsu Tiles considering it’s potential to create jobs for unemployed youths and generate revenue for the state.
The august body which pleaded their unalloyed support to the Hope Uzodimma led APC administration in Imo, request he implements Prof Jude Njoku panel recommendation on returning fully the business faculty of Imo Polytechnic to Ehime-Mbano campus, as well consider the LGA in establishment of a General Hospital to cater for the well-being of the people in the local government.
Governor, Uzodinma pledged to look into various requests from Ndi-Ehime Mbano and attend to them disproportionately.
The delegates assured Governor Uzodimma of their unflinching support and ask God to grant him wisdom, good health and focus to pursue his laudable policies and programmes for the benefits of Ndi-Imo.
