While many people expect the intervention by President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Executive Committee of the governing All Progressives Congress, would put paid, at least for the moment, to the crisis ravaging the ruling Party, indications from some political blocs within the Party.

This is as the governor of Imo State, who also doubles as the Vice-chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma has described the processes adopted by the National Executive Committee of the Party in arriving at the dissolution of the Party’s NWC as “ABERRATION”. He also called on affected officials of the Party to seek redress in Court.

Speaking through his Commissioner for Transportation, Barrister Rex Anunobi, Uzodimma argued that the antecedent established by the action of the NEC following President Buhari’s recommendation is not in line with the Constitution of the Party and described the NEC decision sacking the NWC as a “hatchet job.”

In his words; “What happened was an aberration to achieve a purpose… It’s a hatchet job which will fail and rescinded under proper judicial scrutiny. Parties concerned should go on and challenge it in court for the sanctity of political Party’s over it’s internal affairs.” He concluded.

It may be recalled that Governor Uzodimma was one of the few governors who were at the forefront in fighting for the retention of the ousted NWC. He was said to have made efforts to stop the emergency NEC meeting convened at the instance of President Muhammadu Buhari. Multiple sources claimed that the Imo governor also directed NEC members from the Southeast not to log into the virtual NEC meeting.
